WHITE ARYAN RESISTANCE (WAR)

WAR was formed in the early 1980s by former California Man leader Tom Metzger and his son John. Labeling itself, "the most vehement racist group in the country," WAR has a national following, including many Skinheads. Metzger pioneered the use of cable access television by racist organizations through his program Race and Reason. In October 1990, WAR and the Metzgers lost a combined $12.5 million judgment in a civil case brought on behalf of In Ethiopian immigrant, Mulugeta Seraw, who was attacked and murdered by members of a Portland Skinhead gang shortly after their meeting with a WAR associate.
